Operaを新規インストールした後は

Operaは基本的にインストールしたままでも十分使えますが、カスタマイズすることにより更に使い勝手が向上します。
Tools → Preferences (Alt+P)でほとんどの設定をすることができます。
  • Start and exit
    Show start-up dialogのチェックを外すと起動時のダイアログが消える
  • Languages
    Preferred languages for Web pages → Add... から Japanese, [ja] を追加し、Up をクリックし Japanese, [ja]を一番上にする。
    Encoding to assume for pages lacking specification は shift_jis
  • Personal information
    各項目に記入しておくと、フォームに入力する際に候補が出てくる
  • Advertising
    Show relevant text ads and related searches offered through Google を選択するとテキストのみの小さな広告になる
  • Windows
    • Window handling → Advanced MDI
    • Pop-ups → Block unwanted pop-ups
    • Loading → Redraw instantly
  • Sounds → Enable program sounds のチェックを外す
  • Fonts
    Opera7FontSettingを参照してください。
  • Multimedia
    • JavaScript Option... → Allow scriot to hide address bar のチェックをはずす
      　ポップアップウインドウに必ずアドレスバーを表示させる。
  • Programs and paths
    • Download directory : Quick downloadでダウンロードに使うディレクトリ
    • Source viewer : ソース表示に使うエディタの設定
  • Network
    • Browser identification
      通常はIdentify as Opera。表示がうまくされない場合は Identify as MSIE 6.0
    • Max connections to a server と Max total connections は自分のマシンスペックなどに依存するが大きな数字にした方がWebの読み込みが早い
  • History and cache
    マシンスペックが低く、メモリが足りない場合は Memory cache を Off にする
